When we come to receive the Lord in the Eucharist, our eyes become open and we recognize Jesus Christ for who He is, the Eternal Word, the Savior and the truly risen Messiah who has broken the power of sin and death. The commemoration of the Pashal Mystery in the the breaking of the bread is the place that continually helps us make sense of a world that has misleading expectations. We must “exit” here every Sunday to make sense of a broken world. It is here that we recognize our human experiences for what they are—a dying and rising to new life continually through our own lives. Jesus then becomes the way for us to reconcile those feelings of dismay and devestation in our life.
